Australia canceled its deeply unpopular carbon tax (effective 1 July, 2014) that has driven up costs for industry and consumers while doing nothing for the environment, say Friends of Science, citing media reports and Australian government statements. Friends of Science approve, noting that a growing body of science shows the sun is the main driver of climate change, not carbon dioxide.
Friends of Science announce the release of their Vulcan-logic DeConsensus Project on climate change and human-caused global warming, just in time for Captain Kirk – William Shatner - to lead the world famous Calgary Stampede parade. The DeConsensus Project is guided by a charming Vulcan caricature who walks us through a logical assessment of the alleged 97% consensus, which is nothing more than a social proof, say Friends of Science. Many scientists do not believe that greenhouse gas emissions are dangerous. 20th century warming was very beneficial.
After a media firestorm over their first billboard that said "The sun is the main driver of climate change. Not you. Not CO2.", Friends of Science Society of Calgary have posted a new message on digital billboards in Alberta proclaiming "Global Warming Stopped Naturally 16+ Years Ago." The Friends of Science has launched a counter-campaign to Greenpeace, which in late May sent letters to corporations threatening that directors may face legal liabilities based on their companies' statements on climate change 'denial.'
Friends of Science Society today posted on its website a letter to all companies recently targeted by Greenpeace for ‘climate crimes’ stating that, in the opinion of Friends of Science, Greenpeace fails to include current climate science evidence that shows an unpredicted, natural hiatus in global warming of 16+ years. Friends of Science recent billboard campaign stating "The sun is the main driver of climate change..." has attracted the attention of international media.
Friends of Science Society of Calgary is challenging Greenpeace Edmonton over claims of double standards about the billboard “The sun is the main driver of climate change.” Friends of Science supports the Greenpeace quest to find a billliboard home for their message, but questions the influence of unelected, unaccountable eco-groups on public policy, sometimes with disastrous results as in Ontario’s renewable energy scheme. “First of all, our message is backed up by peer-reviewed science. Secondly, we’re getting an excellent response from around the world,” says Len Maier, president and retired P. Eng. who runs a tree farm.
Dr. Ross McKitrick addressed a packed house at the Metropolitan Conference Centre in Calgary on May 13, 2014 as he walked the audience through the policy implications of the ongoing “pause” in global warming in which climate models continue to overestimate warming when compared to real world data. Economic models are set to match climate models, so they too overestimate the effect of carbon dioxide emissions; these discrepancies will be resolved in the next few years, he explained. McKitrick reviewed evidence from the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report showing that there has never been such a big gap between model predictions and observations, and the gap keeps growing. "This is raising basic questions about whether climate models overstate the effect of greenhouse gases," he said.
Friends of Science are questioning why the National Climate Assessment report does not incorporate the Sept. 27, 2013 acknowledgement by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) of a 15+ year hiatus in global warming - despite a rise in carbon dioxide - and the lack of references to the Technical Uncertainties of that Working Group III report which state low confidence of weather extremes. Friends of Science point to the cyclical nature of the solar magnetic flux as the main driver of climate change (not solar output); the lack of warming while CO2 rises indicates the human-made emissions theory of global warming/climate change is flawed - therefore carbon reduction legislation is an expensive distraction that will damage the economy as experienced in the UK, EU and Ontario, Canada.
Friends of Science are calling for a retraction of a controversial paper by Stephan Lewandowsky, published in Psychological Science, that claims climate change critics are hoax and conspiracy theorists who allegedly believe "NASA faked the moon landing." Friends of Science recent study that shows there is not a 'more than 90%' consensus as claimed by Lewandowsky, as a principal premise of his study; recent IPCC climate science reports confirm that there has been a hiatus in global warming for 16 years, despite a rise in human CO2 emissions, indicating that natural factors are more responsible for climate change.
Harvard University’s Robert N. Stavins is publicly asking if the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) government approval process is broken, in articles on his blog and in the Huffington Post, after finding that the draft Summary for Policymakers was being extensively rewritten by government representatives for their own self-serving national interests related to global warming and climate change policies. This is a continuation of a recurring criticisms about IPCC processes, with the Dutch government requesting an overhaul and Friends of Science upcoming guest speaker, Ross McKitrick, having written a scathing report entitled “What’s wrong with the IPCC?” in 2011.
Friends of Science are challenging statements in the Harvard Business Review (HBR) as misleading to industry and not founded on scientific evidence of the IPCC Physical Sciences Working Group I of the fall, which states there has been a hiatus in global warming over the past 16 years and ‘low confidence’ of future weather extremes. Canada’s province of Ontario consulted closely with ENGOs on low-carbon initiatives and went from manufacturing heartland to dead weight in the Canadian economy reported in the Financial Post April 7, 2014; meanwhile scientist Judith Curry testified to the US Senate on Jan. 16, 2014 that "carbon dioxide (CO2) is not the knob on climate variability" and weather was more extreme in the 30's, 50's and 70's than now.
A recent report in the UK entitled "Climate Control: Brainwashing in Schools" has caused a stir with UK Education Secretary Michael Gove stating publicly that school heads are breaking the law if they are teaching an eco-agenda ideology. Meanwhile the Wall Street Journal recently reported that climate change has conquered campus, and no wonder, since environment, climate change and global warming has formed an integrated curriculum (EIC) across most US states (and much of Canada) for the past 16 years, ironically during the same time period global warming stopped naturally, say Friends of Science.
A recent paper published by Shaun Lovejoy of McGill University, that claims 99.9% certainty of Anthropogenic Global Warming, is flawed from the outset, according to Friends of Science due to Lovejoy's omission of known climatic variations and reliance on the discredited "Hockey Stick" graph.
After 16+ years of no global warming, renowned economist and author Ross McKitrick says the divergence between forecasts made by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and reality "will likely soon force a deep re-think of the basic assumptions on which global climate policy is based." According to earlier IPCC predictions, global mean temperatures should have gone up - instead over the past 16+ years there's be a 'pause' or 'haitus'. In fact, global warming paused before the Kyoto Protocol was implemented. Temperatures have remained stagnant despite a rise in carbon dioxide.
The independent Non-Governmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC) has released a series of scientific reports that bring a more realistic perspective to the recent crisis statements on climate change say Friends of Science. Dr. Richard Tol, a dissenting voice of the recent UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) panel report is reportedly having his reputation smeared for refusing to sign and speaking out against the ‘sexed-up’ alarmist IPCC Yokahama report, that contradicts the UN’s climate change report from the autumn of 2013, demonstrating the necessity of of such independent climate science review.
Friends of Science are advising the public to keep calm and carry on despite frightening climate predictions coming out of recent Yokahama IPCC Working Group II Climate Change meetings. Sweeping claims of impending doom are not supported by the IPCC Physical Sciences Working Group 1 report, especially the "Key Uncertainties" section where the most frightening scenario of rising seas is certainly downplayed as "there is low confidence in projections... of global mean sea level rise, and no consensus in the scientific community about their reliability."
Friends of Science are pleased to announce that ticket sales are open for “The ‘Pause’ in Global Warming: Climate Policy Implications” - their 11th Annual Friends of Science Luncheon May 13, 2014 featuring award-winning economist and author Ross McKitrick. McKitrick is well known for his role (with Steve McIntyre) in dismantling the flawed “Hockey Stick” graph - along with his many insightful critiques of popular misconceptions on environmental issues; his April 2013 Fraser Institute Report revealed that Ontario’s Green Plan cost taxpayers 10 times more than conventional pollution control measures that would have yielded even better outcomes.
In a head-spinning announcement the UN's World Meteorological Organization issued statements claiming extreme weather events of the past year were consistent with human-induced climate change, directly contradicting the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change AR5 report issued in September 2013 which states that there is a hiatus in global warming and that there has been no observed global trend in tropical storms, hurricanes, droughts or floods. Friends of Science point to evidence-based reports such as the fact-based testimony of Roger Pielke, Jr. to the US Senate on Environmental and Public Works and the Madhav Khandekar report, both of which also dispute the claims of the WMO.
Friends of Science Welcomes World Economic Forum to Alberta with Climate Change Billboard at YYC Stating the Sun Is the Main Driver of Climate Change Not CO2. Concerned that the World Economic Forum, the IMF - International Monetary Fund, and World Bank documents do not reflect recent evidence that global warming stopped 16+ years ago before Kyoto was ever implemented, Friends of Science have launched a digital campaign on a massive superboard at the Calgary Airport - YYC to welcome them...if they come. The World Economic Forum on climate change and energy was slated to arrive in Calgary to confer in beautiful Lake Louise April 24-25, but recent flip-flop comments by the Alberta government have shrouded the event with uncertainty; undeterred the Friends of Science billboard will reach them "...via the internet if not in person" says Len Maier, president.
Secretary Kerry recently claimed Indonesia was at risk of sea level rise due to global warming and climate change, dismissing the objections of what he calls a "tiny minority of shoddy scientists"; a recent guest column by Dutch professor emeritus Dick Thoenes of Eindhoven University states that attacks on such scientists undermines democracy. The Dutch government itself calls for an overhaul of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to include natural factors as well as human factors in climate assessments.
Science historian and Harvard Kennedy School professor Naomi Oreskes was recently cited in the Harvard Gazette as claiming a scientific consensus on global climate change based on her 2004 survey, but Friends of Science say that in 2007 they sent Oreskes a report by Madhav Khandekar disputing her claim; Benny Peiser re-ran Oreskes survey in 2005 and found only 1.2% or 13 scientists out of 1,117 agreed with the Anthropogenic (human-caused) Global Warming (AGW) declaration. Friends of Science recently released a deconstruction of the 4 most-cited 97% surveys showing only 1-3% stated agreement with IPCC declarations and say Oreskes' continued claim discredits Harvard Kennedy School.
Friends of Science dispute Secretary of State John Kerry's claims that Indonesia is at risk from human-caused climate change and debunk the notion that carbon is pollution, noting that carbon dioxide drives agricultural productivity and related economic benefits. Based on the last 10 years of evidence, the predicted global warming climate catastrophe has been cancelled; therefore EPA definitions of carbon as well as the Anthropogenic Global Warming theory should be revised accordingly say Friends of Science adding that the sun is the main driver of climate change, not CO2.
Recent comments by President Obama and Mayor Garcetti of Los Angeles are misinformed about Californian drought, say Friends of Science, citing the historic evidence of mega-epoch droughts throughout the Medieval Warm Period. Global warming stopped naturally about 16 years ago; droughts are affected by the position of the jet stream and other natural factors according to scientific experts.
Climate scientist Judith Curry, science writer Joanne Nova and investigative journalist Donna
Laframboise challenge the male-dominated global warming Goliaths in the climate science
field with blunt, probing questions about the waning evidence of carbon dioxide as a climate
'knob'; and questionable practices by various organizations. Friends of Science salute these
women who are willing to take on the contentious, climate science establishment. Curry's testimony refers to 'the pause' in global warming and its implications: "The stagnation in greenhouse warming observed over the past 15+ years demonstrates that CO2 is not a control knob on climate variability."
Responding to hyperbolic rhetoric on climate change by Christine Lagarde, head of the International Monetary Fund, Friends of Science point out that her comments are not supported by the recent IPCC report, the exaggerated climate models' failed predictions or the evidence of no global warming in 16+ years. Unrestrained terrifying statements are damaging the mental health of children and youth; in fact Friends of Science recent report on the alleged 97% consensus shows only 1-3% of scientists in 3 of 4 "consensus" surveys explicitly stated agreement with the IPCC declarations on global warming, and no agreement with a catastrophic view.
Climate Change Is a Fact of Life, the Science Is Not Settled and 97% Consensus on Global Warming Is a Math Myth. Friends of Science have issued a new report "97% Consensus? No! Global Warming Math Myths and Social Proofs" revealing that only 1-3% of scientists in 3 of 4 "consensus" surveys explicitly agree with the IPCC extreme declaration on global warming. Scientific evidence at the joint NOAA/NASA press conference Jan. 21, 2014 shows no global warming in 16+ years despite a rise in carbon dioxide (CO2); as climate models continue to fail, the Dutch government calls for the IPCC reform to include natural factors, not limited to human-induced climate change.
Climate science expert Judith Curry's recent testimony to the US Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works deconstructed the recent IPCC AR5 report, weighing climate model predictions against the evidence of 'the pause' in global warming. Curry stated the the climate sensitivity of carbon dioxide was much less than thought; meanwhile in the EU and UK Der Spiegel reports that low-carbon climate protection targets are being abandoned due to burdensome costs and damage to industry and employment.
According to recent reports in the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail, the BBC spent thousands of pounds attempting to thwart a Freedom of Information request regarding an eco-conference BBC executives attended, leading Friends of Science to ask whether the BBC is fairly reporting climate change and energy events. Friends of Science point to similar disturbing discrepancies in Canadian reporting by CBC and Alberta Venture magazine, predicting the end of coal-fired power plants, while not reporting that 'green' Germany is building 20 new coal plants that will mirror Alberta's advanced coal technologies.
A comic tweet by Calgary city Counselor Sean Chu referring to climate scientists stuck in Antarctica, and North America in a deep freeze spiraled into a media frenzy overnight as commentators - for and against the Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming theory - weighed in from far and wide, including the Huffington Post. Friends of Science say that instead of reviewing the scientific evidence of increased extreme cold snaps, people rely on the 'social proof' of an alleged 97% consensus on global warming that simply does not exist.
A climate change science-tourism expedition got trapped when they set out to prove global warming is causing Antarctica's sea ice to melt, despite data showing the Antarctic 2013 year-average sea ice area is the highest ever recorded during the satellite era, which began in 1979. Friends of Science point out on their Polar Region Sea Ice web-page that Antarctic sea ice data shows it is 1.5 million sq. km larger than the 30 year average and that there has been no global warming in 16 years.
Ripples of the 2008 global recession go on with taxpayers around the world struggling to meet food prices at near historic highs, rising energy prices due to climate change taxes and levies, and continued high unemployment rates across much of the Eurozone. Friends of Science note that carbon taxes and penalties, and incentive programs for biofuels negatively affect economic recovery and taxpayer's pocketbooks; abolishing unnecessary carbon taxes and climate change policies would greatly assist taxpayers in having a happier New Year.
Calgary and area floods, along with tropical storm Haiyan and SuperStorm Standy are tragedies rooted in geography and the human desire to settle on low-lying land near waterfronts - and are not caused by climate change or global warming, says Friends of Science. Historical evidence shows that Tacloban in the Philippines was nearly destroyed by a typhoon in November 1912 when half the population of 30,000 was killed; yet the area remained populated and was devastated again in November 2013.
The Focus on Global Warming means Society Is unprepared for cold weather extremes says Friends of Science. As ice storms put much of Ontario into the cold and dark for Christmas, Friends of Science are citing a recent report by Dr. Madhav Khandekar that indicates cold weather extremes are on the rise; this trend is under reported in the media, and virtually unnoticed by climate researchers at the IPCC.
As winter sets in across Europe, UK newspapers are reporting that utility companies in Britain are forecasting power blackouts as their reliable capacity drops while rising carbon taxes and subsidies for wind farms make utilities operations unprofitable and the grid unmanageable. Friends of Science say carbon taxes are an unnecessary burden as the sun is the main driver of climate change, not carbon dioxide.
As green economies collapse world-wide, Friends of Science question the liability of accountants and investment advisers directing clients 'toward a green economy' to stop global warming. Accountants have promoted the theoretical risk of carbon penalties, recommending investments that have lead to spectacular failures like the bankrupt Better Place and ouster of Siemen's 'green' leader Loescher.
Scientific evidence does not support the assumption that extreme weather events like Typhoon Haiyan is caused by global warming or climate change, according to a new report by IPCC expert reviewer Dr. Madhav Khandekar. Friends of Science maintain that the sun is the main driver of climate change, not carbon dioxide (CO2); in which case most GHG reduction or low-carbon plans are premised on faulty science.
Renewable is Not So Doable say Friends of Science - New Report Challenges Climate Change Science and Economics of Calgary's GHG Reduction Plans. As world leaders at the Warsaw COP-19 Climate Conference back away from new global warming climate targets, and British Columbia eliminates their controversial Pacific Climate Trust, Friends of Science has issued a new report calling upon the City of Calgary to abandon the Community GHG Reduction Plan. Friends of Science state that there has been no global warming in 16 years despite a rise in carbon dioxide and that the sun drives climate change, not carbon dioxide.
Canadian Climate Change Predictions Fail by 590% Costing Global Consumers a Bundle says Friends of Science Study. A new Friends of Science study by research director Ken Gregory shows that the Canadian climate model CanESM2, used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to predict global warming, fails to replicate temperature observations by hundreds of percent - predicting extreme heat when the reality observed is only nominal warming.
Friends of Science Call on Citizens to Reject the IPCC Explanations of why No Global Warming for 16 Years. The recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report demonstrates that the organization lacks credibility as the report backtracks on previous climate change claims while making other statements not supported by evidence. With no global surface warming for 16 years, the IPCC are at a loss to explain this 'hiatus'; Friends of Science say simply the IPCC's original premise was wrong - the sun is the main driver of climate change, not carbon dioxide.
Calgary geologist Bill Bell published a detailed statement in the Calgary Herald last week, on climate science and the politics associated with the global warming movement, just in advance of the IPCC report. Friends of Science salute citizens like Mr. Bell who stand up for science and offer new members a free CD of original jazz by Canadian great Bob Erlendson, and his band of Juno award-winners in Friends of Science fall membership drive.
Friends of Science Report Disputes Health and Climate Change Claims of Pembina Institute on Alberta Coal Plants. Statistical misrepresentations, faulty global warming claims and conflicts of interest in the "Costly Diagnosis" report by Pembina Institute should invalidate its call for an early shut-down of Alberta coal plants. In rebuttal, Friends of Science today released their report -"Costly Misinformed Diagnosis" which details how the move from inexpensive coal power to wind has pushed thousands into heat-or-eat fuel poverty in the UK, with significant health impacts and thousands of deaths.
EU and US Ask for IPCC Climate Change Clarification on 16 Years No Warming Say Friends of Science. German researchers reveal that 65 climate change models failed to predict the current 16 years of no warming leading EU and UK officials to ask the IPCC for clarification. Friends of Science point out that climate change policies around the world are in question and refer to research that shows the sun is the main driver of climate change, not carbon dioxide (CO2).
A team of prominent German climatologists finds that global warming stopped fifteen years ago, in stark contrast to computer models and New York Times predictions of climate change calamities. Friends of Science say climate change computer models used in IPCC reports are not a reliable basis for climate change policies; governments should stop scaring people and stop squandering billions on carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction.
Alberta Wind Farm Risks Underground Pipelines and Continental Energy Supply Says Friends of Science; No Benefit to Climate Change or Global Warming. Stray voltage from wind farms may cause corrosion in buried oil and gas pipelines and catastrophically interrupt continental energy supply say Friends of Science. Their position is that this Alberta Schools purpose-built wind farm decision is ill-advised, a non-transparent use of taxpayers' funds and won't help the environment as the sun drives global warming and climate change, not carbon dioxide (CO2).
Spectacular NASA Images Illustrate Sun as a Driver of Global Warming and Climate Change Foretells Global Cooling Says Friends of Science. NASA's dramatic video of a black-topped sun on the verge of flipping its magnetic polarity has captivated people. Friends of Science say the current low solar sunspot activity, not seen in 200 years, is a pattern that historically preceded global cooling and that the sun is the main driver of climate change, not carbon dioxide.
The Economist reports on IPCC CO2 Sensitivity as Friends of Science Issues a Statement on claims of 97% Scientific Consensus on Global Warming and Climate Change. Recent comments by President Obama and high profile eco-activists like Canadian David Suzuki stating that there is a 97% scientific consensus on global warming and climate change are misleading the public, say Friends of Science. Four key studies on consensus show that scientists only agree that human activity has caused some warming - not dangerous warming; meanwhile The Economist is reporting IPCC draft estimates of climate sensitivity of CO2 saying; "climate sensitivity may have been overestimated in the past and that the science is too uncertain to justify a single estimate of future rises."
Calgary Flood Damage an Outcome of Poor Policy not Climate Change or Global Warming says Friends of Science. Global warming activists and pundits around the world were quick to try and link recent catastrophic flooding in the energy capital of Calgary with climate change. Wondering why governments continued to allow development on flood plains knowing homeowners could be completely wiped out, Friends of Science sets the record and the science straight on Calgary, Alberta, Canada's historic floods and wishful thinking on the part of policy makers.
Keystone XL Pipeline Cleaner and Cooler than Texas Wind Farms in Terms of Climate Change and Global Warming. Recent research indicates that Texas wind farms cause more heating and climate change than would the Keystone XL Pipeline; consequently prospects of the President approving Keystone look brighter for thousands of jobless Americans. Based on US State Department parameters, Keystone is calculated to potentially contribute just 0.00002 C in 50 years, while Texas wind Farms have been shown to have increased local temperatures by 1 C, at the same time requiring inordinate amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) intense cement during construction.
Obama Warned that Climate Change to Global Cooling is more likely than Global Warming say Friends of Science as Sleepy Solar Cycle Foretells Icy Decades Ahead. Obama's attempt to stop global warming and climate change by reducing carbon dioxide or closing coal power plants will only create an American-style heat or eat crisis like that which forced millions into fuel poverty in the UK and Europe. Global temperatures have been declining since 2001 as solar magnetic activity falls; these natural climate factors are not part of the IPCC's computer models which have lead governments to implement unnecessary climate policies that sent EU electrical prices up 37% over that of the US since 2005.
Collapse of Climate Change Talks in Bonn plus the Epic Fail of Global Warming Prediction Models mean End of Climate Terror say Friends of Science. Russia foiled the climate talks in Bonn last week by challenging the consensus decision making process that they said often excludes them; that draft agreements are offered up in the 11th hour for approval without their valid input. In light of revelations that global warming stopped 16 years ago, despite a rise in carbon dioxide (CO2), Friends of Science point out that computer model predictions of warming are all wrong with tropical warming trends from 1979 off by a factor of four; the evidence shows no global warming.
The FoS 10th annual luncheon will be held on May 14, 2013 in Calgary, Alberta, featuring Dr. Benny Peiser, author & Director of the Global Warming Policy Foundation, UK. His talk, "To Heat or Eat: Europe's Climate Policy Fiasco" will show how Europe's policies to promote inefficient wind and solar power, and impose carbon taxes and emissions trading have caused soaring energy prices, economic decline and plunged millions of
families into fuel poverty.
Friends of Science Challenge the Cook Study for Bandwagon Fear Mongering on Climate Change and Global Warming. Detailed analysis shows that only 0.5% (65 of the 12,000 abstracts rated) suggest that humans are responsible for more than 50% of the global warming up to 2001, contrary to the alleged 97% consensus amongst scientists in the Cook et al study. Citing fear mongering and faulty methodology Friends of Science reject the study and President Obama's tweet as careless incitement of a misinformed and frightened public, when in fact the sun is the main driver of climate change; not human activity or carbon dioxide (CO2).
Peiser's Presentation on EU 'Green Basketcase' Climate Change and Global Warming Policies Shocks Audience say Friends of Science. Citing Europe's 'green obsession' and inflexible, failed climate policies as key reasons why so many EU economies are faltering on the brink of bankruptcy, Dr. Benny Peiser shocked his audience with images of EU forests ravaged by energy-poor citizens in search of fuel. Friends of Science say climate change and global warming policies should be based on scientific evidence, not apocalyptic computer modeled forecasts.
Sun is the Main Driver of Climate Change and Global Warming or Cooling say Friends of Science – Not You or 400 ppm CO2. Carbon dioxide (CO2) levels reported to have reached 400 ppm at Mauna Loa Observatory sent climate change activists like James Hansen, Al Gore, 350.org and Scientific American into a frenzy but Friends of Science say solar and ocean cycles are the main drivers of climate change, not CO2. With no global warming in 16 years despite a rise in CO2, the role of declining water vapor in upper atmosphere partially negates the 'heat-trapping' effect of CO2.
EU Fuel Quality Directive an Exercise in Climate Change Global Warming Hypocrisy says Friends of Science. Canada's Minister of Natural Resources Joe Oliver is in Europe to argue that the European Union's Fuel Quality Directive unfairly stigmatizes Alberta Oil Sands products. Friends of Science point to the climate change hypocrisy in the EU when one compares their terms for 'carbon neutral' wood pellets shipped from Canada or the carbon footprint of EU beer consumption vis a vis oil sands' emissions.
Albertans Warned that EU has Committed Economic Suicide with Global Warming and Climate Change Policies say Friends of Science. "UKIP - UK Independence Party - a party driven by climate and green energy sceptics has swept local elections," says Dr. Peiser. "It may be a trend."
European Green Movement on Verge of Collapse Due to Failed Climate Change and Global Warming Policies Say Friends of Science. Dr. Benny Peiser of the UK Global Warming Policy Foundation reports that EU energy prices have skyrocketed, families have been forced into energy poverty; meanwhile the EU carbon market has collapsed with no evidence of healthier environment or 'abundant' green jobs, so European manufacturing is fleeing to places with cheaper energy prices in order to remain competitive.
Ex-NASA scientist James Hansen called Canadian government officials "Neanderthals" last week and continued his allegations that Alberta's oil sand developments present a potential climate catastrophe. Friends of Science challenge his stance which they say is based on grandstanding and not scientific evidence.
Only 65 Scientists of 12,000 Make up Alleged 97% on Climate Change and Global Warming Consensus According to Breakdown of Cook et al study, say Friends of Science. In response to multiple inquiries from media and global warming advocates, Friends of Science issue this release to expose the statistical manipulation evident from the break down of the Cook et al paper. Friends of Science decry the linking of this flawed study with alleged danger from man-made carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) as there has been no global warming in 16 years despite a rise in CO2 levels; Friends of Science say the sun and oceanic oscillations are the main drivers of climate change, not CO2.
Friends of Science condemn the so-called “Citizens' Panel on Edmonton's Energy and Climate Challenges" for its lack of up-to-date science and manipulative questionnaire. "EKOS opinion polls about climate change are a poor basis for public policy and planning," says Len Maier, president of Friends of Science.
Climate Change Dogma Killing the Economy as EU Carbon Crashes on Vote against High CO2 Prices.
Carbon prices in the European Union crashed up to 45 per cent as Members of the European Parliament voted against a climate change policy of high prices on carbon dioxide (CO2), due the burden on economy, industry and families. Friends of Science will host Dr. Benny Peiser May 14, 2013 in Calgary to speak on "To Heat or Eat: Europe's Failed Climate Policies" at the 10th Annual Friends of Science Luncheon.
McKitrick Study Slams Wind Energy for Sky High Costs and No Benefit. The Fraser Institute's report by Dr. Ross McKitrick shows that Ontario's Green Energy Act intended to stop global warming, is causing energy prices to soar with the plan now 10 times costlier than alternatives that would have yielded the same environmental benefits. Friends of Science ask Alberta School Boards and Alberta government to halt pending long-term 25 year wind power purchase deal with BluEarth Renewables, Inc. due to financial risks to taxpayers.
Keystone XL Opposition not based on Reason or Climate Change but on EU Carbon Markets looking to Expand in US EU Free Trade. EU Climate Commissioner Connie Hedegaard of Denmark says President Obama should veto Keystone XL to make good on his global warming rhetoric or institute a carbon tax. There is neither reason nor science to back up Hedegaard's claims say Friends of Science.
Climate Reality Presentations Play on Fears of Global Warming and Climate Change but Lack Supporting Facts. Al Gore's "Climate Reality" presentation witnessed by Friends of Science members featured frightening movie clips of disasters, but when asked the questions about climate change science there was no supporting evidence offered. Friends of Science stand by the evidence-based scientific method and are concerned that this climate "reality" is being promoted in schools across North America, consequently they announce the posting of a point-by-point rebuttal backed up with scientific evidence on their website.
Thousands Die Due to Climate Change Policies and Carbon Taxes as Friends of Science Bring Dr. Peiser from Global Warming Policy Foundation UK to issue Warning to America. The UK's failed climate change policies are killing thousands during big freeze in the UK according to reports in major newspapers; a grim warning to North America on the perils of carbon taxes and forced closure of coal-fired plants. Dr. Benny Peiser of the Global Warming Policy Foundation will be guest speaker: "To Heat or Eat: Europe's Failed Climate Policies" May 14, 2013 in Calgary, Alberta at the 10th Annual Friends of Science luncheon.
Health Stats and Global Warming Fears in Coal Emissions Report by Pembina Institute disputed by Top Scientist. Pembina has called upon Alberta to close its coal-fired plants claiming their emissions cause 100 premature deaths per year, health costs and global warming. Economist Dr. Ross McKitrick disputes the statistical fear-mongering of the Pembina Institute on the emission health effects. "The Pembina model attributes over half the annual deaths in the province to airborne fine particulates. I find this implausible, to say the least," says McKitrick.
Earth Hour Plays on Climate Change Fears. Our 'Blue Dot' is adrift in a cosmic soup of powerful solar winds, magnetic fields, and cosmic rays; even the Vatican Observatory has studied the heavens for hundreds of years. Climate change focus on global warming and carbon dioxide (CO2) is near-sighted, causing wasteful climate policies that have pushed millions into a "heat or eat poverty crisis" that is based on faulty science.
Carbon Tax Proposition as a Trade-off for Keystone XL Pipeline is a Crazy Idea for Canada. Carbon taxes in Europe have forced families into a 'heat or eat' crisis, white collar crime in the carbon trades and sky-rocketing energy prices that devastate small business. Carbon taxes do nothing for the environment while removing billions of dollars from the productive stream of value-added enterprises like manufacturing, innovation and hi-tech.
NY Times Diatribe on Climate Science of Keystone XL Pipeline and Tar Sands Challenged by Friends of Science. Climate catastrophe thinking about global warming and carbon dioxide is not supported by scientific evidence say Friends of Science, pointing to Thomas Friedman's recent anti-Keystone op-ed. Instead, unusual solar activity suggests that cooling, not global warming threatens civilization.
Global Warming in Alberta Reveals Massive Big Rock Under Melted Ice, Say Friends of Science
Climate action supporters and anti-Keystone pipeline protestors who claim oil sands emissions could push earth's climate over the brink are unaware of geological history and the overall cooling trends of earth. Friends of Science announce "Big Rock" climate science education drive in the media.
Snow Blankets Northern Countries Contrary to Global Warming Predictions meaning Governments are basing Climate Change Policies on Faulty Science say Friends of Science. Global warming advocates predicted 13 years ago that soon children would never see snow due to climate change. Surprisingly, the recent heavy snowfalls are instead being touted by advocates as evidence of global warming.
Swept away by global warming climate change hysteria, governments are not ready for crop failures and shorter growing seasons of global cooling, foreshadowed by low solar activity. Though NASA is currently reporting a massive sunspot, solar cycle 24, our current phase, has been half as active as previous cycles suggesting another imminent Little Ice Age that could devastate food production for decades.
Friends of Science have issued an open letter to Premier Alison Redford in response to her public address of Jan. 24, 2013.
Our position is that carbon capture and reduction methods are a wasteful diversion of public funds, and based on faulty science.
Secret Santa Whistleblower Files End Climate Change Catastrophe Cult, Says Friends of Science. Laframboise releases "Secret Santa" Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) internal files that reveal more attempts by agenda-driven activists to skew the science on climate change. In 2012 the UK met weather office revealed no global warming for at least 16 years while IPCC admits global warming predictions were way off and there is no trend in extreme weather.
Leaked Draft of UN Climate Report Admits then Evades Role of Solar Cycles in Climate Change says Friends of Science.
In a stunning revelation, the IPCC report shows that climate models failed to predict the last 16 years wherein there was no global warming and states there is no trend in the frequency or magnitude of storms, droughts and floods on a global scale. "The evidence shows the sun, not CO2, is the main driver of climate change," say Friends of Science.

Carbon dioxide reduction and 'damage aid' are more forms of "Kyoto Carbon Kleptomania" based on incomplete science and inaccurate computer models. The rush to renewable energy that is not market ready or reliable has forced millions into fuel poverty, hunger and nations into bankruptcy.

A Canadian family of four would pay a UN tax of $1,211.
